MERRIMAC STREET, BOSTON

This mural, commissioned in a weak moment by the City of Boston, was 90 feet tall. The patients at the mental health facility across the street had a great view of it from their windows. Their doctors felt that daily exposure to this particular image was not a helpful element in the recovery process, but the patients themselves seemed to enjoy it. Unfortunately or, perhaps, fortunately, depending upon one's point of view and/or mental health, the mural is now gone. And so too are all the patients.
